<p>Pooja Kapoor, mother of two sons, was found dead around 8.30 a.m. Wednesday at her Vikash Nagar residence in west Delhi. Her husband Rajesh Kapoor was a taxi driver.</p>
<p>&#8220;She could not manage to pay off her debts. It might be the reason behind her extreme step,&#8221; said a police official.</p>

Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw, seeking status report from the DDA by March 21 on the issue, also issued notices to the Delhi Police chief and station house officer (Jamia Nagar).</p>
<p>The petitioner, Kamran Siddique alleged that Khan, who represents Okhla constituency, encroached on about 5 bighas of DDA land and was running the illegal zoo on the land.</p>
<p>&#8220;The MLA (legilator) has encroached about 5 bigha land of DDA bearing khasra no. 409, village Jasola, New Delhi and he is running the illegal zoo on the enchoached land,&#8221; he said, adding Khan&#8217;s act was in the contravention with the Provision of Prevention of Cruelity to Animals Act and Wildlife Ac.</p>
<p>He said the encroached land was for public use and is proposed for a grave for the benefit of Muslim community.</p>

The met office has forecast warmer days ahead.</p>
<p>The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said the hottest Feb 21 was in 2009 when the maximum temperature was recorded at 30 degrees. At 25 degrees, 2007 and 2010 were the coolest in the recent past.</p>
<p>&#8220;The mercury will continue to rise in through the week and Delhiites should anticipate warmer days ahead,&#8221; an IMD official said.</p>
<p>The day&#8217;s minimum temperature was recorded at 11.1 degrees, average for this time of the season.</p>
<p>Humidity levels wavered between a high of 90 and a low of 31 percent.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, similar weather will be in store for Delhiites Wednesday and the maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 29 and 12 degrees Ceslius.</p>
<p>Monday&#8217;s maximum temperature settled a notch above average at 25.5 degrees Celsius while the minimum temperature was 11.4 degrees, average for this time of the season.</p>

<p>&#8220;We have ordered an inquiry in the abuse of children at a orphanage run here. The committee will look deep in the case and the issues being faced by inmates to prevent their recurrence,&#8221; Dikshit told reporters on sidelines of a function here.</p>
<p>Dikshit also said that the government will look at the deeper issues and come out with measures to ensure that children living at orphanages do not face any problem in future.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have already appointed an administrator who is looking into the issues. We will see what should be done to prevent such incidents. The members of the probe panel will be announced Tuesday,&#8221; she added.</p>
<p>Police have arrested four people for alleged sexual abuse of children at Arya orphanage, which was privately-run.</p>

<p>A teenaged car cleaner who was unauthorisedly driving a central government official&#8217;s vehicle left two morning walkers dead in south Delhi around 6 a.m. Monday.</p>
<p>Cleaner Manish, 19, was arrested for killing Sultan Singh, 50, and his friend Raghu Verma Raja, in his 40s, who had come to the city from Bangalore, on the August Kranti Marg near Gulmohar Park neighbourhood.</p>
<p>Rakesh, 35, who was riding a motorcycle, was mowed down by a truck on Naraina flyover in west Delhi around 1.45 a.m. Monday. Truck driver Munna Rai, hailing from Bihar, was arrested.</p>
<p>The truck dragged the motorcyclist&#8217;s body for about 200 metres before a car driver forced him to stop, police said.</p>
<p>Mahender Paswan, 27, a pedestrian, was killed after being run over by a speeding car at Noida link road in Mayur Vihar-I in east Delhi Sunday night. Car driver Rohit Srivastava was arrested.</p>
<p>Arjun Singh, 25, from Uttrakhand, died on road Sunday after being run over by a vehicle in the Anand Vihar area in east Delhi.</p>
<p>A man travelling in a mini-truck was was killed in central Delhi&#8217;s Chanakyapuri Sunday night. Sushil Pandit, 22, was died when a mini-truck in which he was travelling was hit in the rear by a truck.</p>
<p>Pandit was sitting in the tempo and was going towards Dhaula Kuan when the incident took place around 11.30 p.m. Two others sitting in the tempo were injured. The truck driver fled from the spot.</p>

<p>&#8220;The incident was reported Feb 15 when Chavi, in her early 20s, tried to hang herself in her room after closing the door. However, her husband Shravan Rastogi broke open the door and took her to a nearby hospital,&#8221; said a senior police official.</p>
<p>The couple lived in Bharat Nagar area of north Delhi.</p>
<p>Police said Chavi was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit, where she died on the evening of Feb 16.</p>
<p>According to police, Shravan and Chavi had got married two years ago.</p>
<p>&#8220;Chavi is from Chandigarh and her parents have complained that she was being tortured and harassed by Shravan and his parents for dowry,&#8221; said the official.</p>
<p>&#8220;We have filed a case a dowry against Shravan and his parents but it is too early to say anything,&#8221; he added.</p>
<p>Asked whether Chavi had an arugment with Shravan, the officer said: &#8220;We are piecing the sequence of events together and the investigation is on in the case.&#8221;</p>

<p>Anukool Rishi, a resident of Sainik Farms neighbourhood, hit the railing around 5.30 a.m. near Panchsheel Enclave.</p>
<p>&#8220;Anukool Rishi in his Lamborghini car was trying to overtake a truck at Josip Broz Tito Marg in Panchsheel Enclave,&#8221; said a police officer.</p>
<p>&#8220;It is too early to say whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol,&#8221; said the official.</p>
<p>Police gave different ages for Rishi. While the investigating officer of the case put it at 27, the station house officer of the area put it at 28.</p>
<p>Cyclist Kishan, 45, received head injuries. &#8220;The cyclist is from the nearby Khanpur village area,&#8221; the official said.</p>
<p>Police suspect Rishi was speeding and lost control of the car at the time of the incident. He was killed on the spot when the car hit the railing of a bus stop on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor.</p>
<p>Rishi&#8217;s father is also a realtor.</p>

<p>The incident took place at Sultanpur Metro station around 6 p.m. Jeevant Negi was waiting for train when he lost his balance and fell off the platform.</p>
<p>Though the approaching train stopped short of him as the driver applied emergency brakes, Negi sustained serious head injuries in the fall.</p>
<p>He was taken to the AIIMS Trauma Centre where his condition is stated to be be critical, police said.</p>
