Sat, 06 Feb 2010 08:00:00

New Delhi: Jean Charest, the prime minister of Quebec, one of the largest provinces in Canada, Saturday took a ride in the Delhi Metro and appreciated its cleanliness.

According to Delhi Metro authorities, Charest along with some senior officials "got a first-hand feel of the system".

"The premier first visited the Metro Museum at Patel Chowk station and thereafter traveled from Patel Chowk to Rajiv Chowk Metro station of Line-2," Delhi Metro spokesman Anuj Dayal said.

Charest also met Delhi Metro Rail Corporation managing director E. Sreedharan at Metro Bhawan and "appreciated the cleanliness at Metro stations and quick pace of Metro construction in the capital city".

Delhi Metro ferries over 900,000 passengers every day over its network of nearly 90 km.

Charest is in India to participate in the ongoing Delhi sustainable summit.
