Delhi lawyers to strike work Thursday

New Delhi: Lawyers in the five trial courts here will observe a one-day strike Thursday to protest what they term increasing corruption in the judiciary, a lawyers' association said.

The co-ordination committee of the all bar associations Wednesday decided to abstain from work March 11.

Rajiv Khosla, spokesperson co-ordination committee said, "We are abstaining ourselves from work to protest the increasing corruption in the judiciary."

He also added that high court should increase the jurisdiction of the lower courts in monetary disputes from the present Rs.20 lakh limit.

Sanjeev Nasiar, secretary general of the co-ordination committee, said relatives of judges practising in the same court should be barred.
