Tue, 16 Feb 2010 10:46:00

Noida: Two people were crushed to death when the autorickshaw they were travelling in was hit by a speeding dumper near Sector-37 of Noida, police said Tuesday.

Ramesh Chaudhury, who was driving the autorickshaw, and Santosh, seated as a passenger inside, were going to Sadarpur Monday night when a speeding dumper coming from the opposite direction hit the autorickshaw from the front on Noida-Dadri road.

Ramesh and Santosh sustained critical injuries and died while being taken to hospital, police said.

Ramesh belonged to East Champaran in Bihar and was staying in Sadarpur. Santosh hailed from Gorakhpur.

"The dumper has been seized but its driver is absconding," a police official said, adding a case of rash driving was registered against him.
